Buy a Stocked Impoundment Permit

Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme (SIPS) impoundments are stocked with native fish specifically for recreational fishing. The scheme provides a sustainable fishing option that reduces the fishing pressure on wild fish stocks.

A Stocked Impoundment Permit allows you to fish using a fishing line at impoundments on the scheme.

Where to fish

Find a freshwater fishing location at one of more than 60 stocked dams and weirs. You can filter by region, fish species, fishing type and facilities.

The regional trail guides provide maps and information on stocked fish species and facilities:

Hard copies are available from local stocking groups, selected tackle stores and tourist information outlets.

All persons over the age of 18 years must hold a permit when line fishing in SIPS impoundments.
